Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig, September 21 in 1983. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Originating from Worthington Ohio, she quit high school in order to relocate into Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite difficulties with money, she was able to land her first major part in the web-based video show Rachel's Room playing the principal character. The film for television Murder in Greenwich, in which she played 15-years-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was the main character for the initial two seasons. She was also awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace left the television series in 2005 to pursue a more significant role in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She has appeared on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 as well as in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) are her re-casts of role. Grace reprised Shannon's role in Lost for two additional episodes, which included the series final. Grace appeared on Californication's 6th season which ran from 2013 to 2014. She is Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for the stars and catches the attention from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She is a member of the Gyllenhaal clan and the sister to Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in the films of her father in his adolescent years. Together with her brother she also appeared in Donnie Darko (2000). She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance as a lead character of Secretary (2002) which is which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated for her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. She starred in several films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However the role she played in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang and Hysteria. Alongside her work as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen on screen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). One of her latest roles included as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal debuted as a writer and director in 2021, with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
