Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983 in Worthington Ohio, is an American actor. She is famous for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well in ABC's Lost television show. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington from Ohio dropped out of high school in order to move in Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite difficulties with money, she was able get her first significant part in the web-based video series Rachel's Room playing the main character. The television film Murder in Greenwich that she appeared in, where she played 15-years-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination of a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford, a character she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was selected for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to pursue an even more prominent role in films, having appeared opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. She played the same role in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes as Shannon. In 2013 she appears in the sixth season of Californication. The actress plays Faith an actress in a group and as her muse to the stars who captures the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager her career began on small roles with her father. She was also in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's leading roles in Secretary, a romantic comedy-drama erotico, and Sherrybaby (a film) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Award. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) and World Trade Center (2006), earned Gyllenhaal more fame. Following her acclaimed performance as a mother who is not married in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee, The Big Bang and Hysteria. Other roles she has played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and The Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal began her career as a director, screenwriter and script writer when she directed and wrote the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter.
