Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five and enrolled in the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew she was going to become an actress. For a number of years she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. From the age of 10 the actress took part in and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agent through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The most successful film of 2001 it set new records in its first day revenue as well as opening weekend takings. Critics praised the film and its performances by the three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her impressive performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in the Film.
